Presidential Search

Following the announcement that current President Roger Stanford will retire in August 2026, the Western District Board has initiated the process to identify the next President of Western Technical College. The college has partnered with AGB Search firm to conduct a nationwide search for this important role.

We are currently conducting listening sessions and surveys for the community, Western students, and Western employees. You can find more information about the process below.

The target date for posting the position is February 20, 2026.

  • Listening Sessions held and Pre-Search Survey sent out
  • President Search Profile completed
  • Position is posted

  • Full consideration deadline for applications
  • Search Committee submits top candidates to consultant;

  • Finalist interviews and visits to campus

Listening Sessions with Our Communities

As part of the search process, Western will invite employees, students, board members, and community members to share their perspectives during a series of listening sessions held on February 3, 5-6. These conversations will guide the development of the Presidential Leadership Profile, a document capturing the qualities, experiences, and priorities our next president must embody.

Presidential Search Committee

The Search Committee is led by District Board member Chet Doering and Director of Human Resources John Heath. District Board Chair Kevin Hennessey will also serve on the committee. Western is in the process of selecting three additional employees to join the team.
